Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of July 16, 2007 - Page 2By Vangie Beal July 17, 2007While our last update on SDRAM prices showed relatively stable prices, this week we see some online vendors shaving a few dollars here and there to compete for your online order. Falling under the $10 mark to $8 this week is PC133 ECC 128-MB. Consumers looking for PC133 CAS3 512-MB will be pleased with the $5 price drop to $68, and PC133 ECC 512-MB reflects a $1 price drop. The only SDRAM module up in price this week is a $4 increase on PC133 CAS3 128-MB, which is now selling at $24. PC133 CAS3 128-MB dropped the week of July 02, 2007 by $2, making it this overall four-week change of +$2. DDR-SDRAM prices are a bit of a mixed bag this week, where your savings will depend on the exact module you are shopping for. Consumers will save money on higher-end PC2100 and PC2700 modules, as PC2100 512-MB is down $4 to $26 and the prices of PC2700 256-MB and PC2700 512-MB both dropped by a dollar. Other savings on DDR memory include a $3 drop on PC3200 1-GB and a $4 cut to PC3700 256-MB. Consumers may also be interested in PC4200 512-MB which dropped in price by $7. DDR2 prices are also falling, with consumers being able to take advantage of several modules found at lower prices this week. Both DDR2-533 1-GB and DDR2-667 512-MB dropped slightly by a dollar each, but the price of DDR2-1000 1-GB is more promising at $143, a $6 decrease over our last report. DDR2-667 1-GB fell $3 to $87 and DDR2-800 512-MB offers consumers a savings of $4 this week. RDRAM, while a small category in our guide, shows little change this week. PC800 128-MB PC800 ECC 128-MB offer only single dollar savings while PC800 256-MB went up $3 to $52. These three modules represent our only RDRAM price fluctuations. Overall, this week we are seeing lower prices on standard system memory. While we did mark a few price increases, such as PC133 CAS3 128MB rising $4 and a $6 jump to PC1066 512MB 184pin, the majority of changes did result in lower prices. Several modules offer $4 each in savings like PC2100 512-MB, PC3700 256-MB, and DDR2-800 512-MB. Others, like DDR2-1000 1-GB and PC4200 512-MB dropped by $6 and $7. For those looking to upgrade this week, we hope the lower prices hit the specific modules you are looking for. When shopping for memory online, don't forget to keep an eye on your overall shipping costs and watch for summer deals, as this is a smart way to lower the overall price you end up paying for your system memory.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
