Memory Pricing Guide |
High-End Memory Prices - Week of July 23, 2007 - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff July 23, 2007As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ FlexXLC. The situation was much better in the dual channel DDR2 chart, and there seems to be a bit more life in this area, as the overall chart fell by an aggregate total of $220. This comes on the heels of a meager $74 total decrease in our last update, and will certainly give DDR2 buyers something to get excited about. There were seven price drops that reached double digits, such as a $70 cut to Corsair Dominator DDR2-800 2x1-GB, while Geil DDR2-667 Ultra 2x2-GB and Geil DDR2-1066 Ultra 2x1-GB fell by $40 and $37, respectively. Naturally, there was not much movement on the other end of the chart, and a $20 jump to the price of Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667 2x1-GB was only real news. We also added a pile of new 2x2GB matched pair listings, as these are becoming more popular and prevalent in the marketplace.
