Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of September 24, 2007 - Page 2By Vangie Beal September 24, 2007After the last week's price drops on many SDRAM modules, we definitely see a bit of a slowdown this week. While memory prices have not rebounded, we are limited to a single price drop this week on PC133 CAS3 256-MB, which is down $2 to $34. This week we have a nice downward trend showing up on PC2100, PC2700 and PC3200 memory, in which all listed modules are down in price by $1 to $3. PC2100 256-MB, PC2700 256-MB, PC3200 256-MB, and PC3200 512-MB all dropped by a dollar, while PC2700 512-MB and PC3200 1-GB dropped by $2, and PC2100 512-MB fell $3 to $21. On the rise this week is the price of PC4000 1-GB, up $13 to $116 due to an online vendor change. We have a few DDR2 modules offering slight cost savings this week, such as DDR2-533 512-MB falling $3 to $26. DDR2-533 1-GB and DDR2-667 1-GB are each down in price by $2, and the only module which gained this week was DDR2-800 1-GB, jumping by $7 to $149. While prices on RDRAM usually reflect only small changes each week, we do find PC800 ECC 256-MB down $10 to $75. PC800 ECC 512-MB also dropped by $9 to $89 this week, making it an attractive deal for those looking to upgrade. Other price fluctuations here include a single dollar drop on the price of PC800 ECC 128-MB. Consumers are going to want to take a closer look at both lower-end DDR-SDRAM and some modules in the RDRAM category if saving money is your motto. Seeing PC800 ECC 512-MB and PC800 ECC 256-MB drop by $9 and $10, respectively, does makes the memory purchase worth considering. SDRAM prices, while noticeably down in our last guide, have pretty much remained unchanged this week, save for a small $2 drop on PC133 CAS3. 256-MB. DDR-SDRAM prices also offer multiple savings to consumers building or upgrading this week. As we head out of September 2007, it might be a good practice to check with local franchise shops to see if they are willing to come close or even match Internet prices, giving you, the consumers the best deal as shipping costs won't need to be factored in.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
