As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
The price drops continued once we reached the dual channel DDR2 chart, and while the $222 aggregate chart drop was just shy of the $257 and $269 decreases we posted in the last two guides, it's still a very respectable total. This also represents almost $750 shaved off the chart in three successive guides. Of the twelve double-digit price cuts, the largest individual drops included the Kingston HyperX DDR2-800 2x2-GB (-$50), Mushkin RedLine DDR2-1000 2x1-GB (-$34), Kingston HyperX DDR2-1066 2x1-GB (-$25), and Kingston HyperX DDR2-1200 2x1-GB (-$25). Unfortunately, there were a trio of price increases to deal with, as Corsair Dominator DDR2-1250 2x1-GB and Team Xtreem DDR2-1300 2x1GB jumped by $31 and $20, respectively.
