As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
The price drops we saw in the single-module listings were only the start, and the dual channel DDR2 chart is almost exploding with downward movement. There were twelve price drops that reached double digits, including five of $30 or higher. The juiciest of these included the Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 2x2-GB (-$39), Corsair XMS2 DDR2-1066 2x1-GB (-$36) and OCZ DDR2-800 Platinum 2x1-GB (-$35) dual channel kits. Only a single listing increased at all, but this was a $28 spike to Mushkin RedLine DDR2-1000 2x1-GB. The aggregate chart dropped by an amazing $316, eclipsing the -$222, -$257 and -$269 overall decreases we posted in the last three successive guides. Even more amazing, that means we've shaved more than $1,000 off the chart over the last four price guides.
