Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of November 5, 2007 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 5, 2007After October, which was a slow month for SDRAM prices, we do see several lower-priced modules that might make buying an option for those looking to upgrade. PC133 memory shows the largest overall change, with a few modules hitting that $5 and over price drop level. This week, PC133 ECC 512-MB is down $5 to $25, PC133 CAS2 256-MB dropped $6 to $27, and PC133 CAS3 512-MB can be had for $61 - a savings of $7. PC133 ECC 256-MB is down in price by a single dollar, and the only increase we have on SDRAM this week is a three dollar jump on PC133 CAS3 128-MB, which is now selling for $23. DDR prices are also falling with the leaves, and we see several smaller price drops throughout this category. PC2100 256-MB, PC2700 512-MB, and PC3200 512-MB all received smaller $1 drops, but those looking for PC3500 512-MB will save $3. We also found PC3200 1GB dropping down $7 to its current price of $42, while PC4000 1-GB fell $4 to $115 this week. DDR2 memory is also on a lower price trend, giving consumers looking to upgrade a good reason to purchase this week. The online selling price of DDR2-667 512-MB, DDR2-667 1-GB, and DDR2-1000 1-GB all went down by $3 this week, and we also spotted DDR2-533 256-MB selling for $25, which is a savings of $6. The only price increase on the DDR2 list was on DDR2-667 256-MB, which is up by $4 to $60. As usual, RDRAM prices haven't changed too much since our last chart update. This week we have three modules; PC800 256-MB, PC800 512-MB, and PC800 ECC 512-MB, all of which are up in price by a dollar. Consumers looking for anything but RDRAM will find a deal or two this week, depending of course, on the exact type of memory needed. SDRAM modules dropping in price from between $5 and $7 will certainly help cover any shipping costs, and the $7 price cut on PC3200 1GB also makes this module worth considering. As we head into November, it's a good practice to check with local franchise shops to see if they are willing to come close or price match Internet prices, giving you, the consumers the best deal as shipping costs won't need to be factored in.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
