Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of November 19, 2007 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 19, 2007Unlike our last guide, where small price drops were the norm in the SDRAM category, this week we have only two price changes to report. PC133 ECC 512-MB is down $3 to $22 and the price of PC133 CAS3 512-MB also fell $3 to $58. DDR memory also offers consumers a few deals this week. Starting with PC3500 512-MB, we see its price down $3 to $54, while other changes include slight $1 price drops on both PC2700 256-MB and PC4000 1-GB. DDR2 memory, on the other hand, does not offer any more in the way of price fluctuations this week. DDR2-533 512-MB and DDR2-667 512-MB are each down in price by $3, while $2 was shaved off the selling price of DDR2-533 1-GB. Lastly, we have a bigger $5 drop on DDR2-667 1-GB, which is now selling at $55. The only module to go up in price this week is DDR2-1000 1-GB, which jumped by $3 to $143. RDRAM is also a bit more stable this week, offering consumers only a single price drop, but it is the largest price change of the entire guide. PC800 256-MB, which was at $49 last week, fell by $7 to $42. The good news for consumers is that if you held off on buying your memory upgrade until this week, you won't be paying any significantly higher prices, regardless of the exact type of memory you need. The bad news is that there also isn't any significant savings to be has either, unless you happen to be shopping for PC800 256-MB which dropped by $7. Three is the popular number this week, with several modules dropping by $3, including PC133 ECC 512-MB, PC133 CAS3 512-MB, PC3500 512-MB, DDR2-533 512-MB, and DDR2-1000 1-GB. The new $55 price tag on DDR2-667 1GB, following a $5 price drop, may also make this an attractive purchase this week. When you are looking to buy memory online, it is a good idea to check vendor Web sites and see if you can find a shipping deal, which can add up to a greater dollar savings on your final purchase price. This time of year a holiday promotion favorite from merchants is free shipping, so even with few price drops this week, it may still be a good time to buy online.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
