Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of December 3, 2007 - Page 2By Vangie Beal December 3, 2007SDRAM prices leveled out some time ago and it's been a few months since we've seen a price change exceeding $3. This week is a welcome change, and there are a couple of higher dollar shifts. PC133 CAS3 128-MB is down $6 to $17 this week, but the price of PC133 CAS3 512-MB jumps $5 to $63. Also, a dollar was shaved off the price of PC133 ECC 256-MB, which is now at $17, matching the price of the same non-ECC variety. The DDR market is mostly stable again this week. While the price of PC3500 512-MB went up $4 to $58 this week, consumers can take advantage of a $7 drop on PC3700 256-MB, which is now selling online for $29. The only other price change of note in this category is a $2 cut to PC2100 256-MB, which brings it down to $11. As usual, we have more changes in the DDR2 category than any other section of the guide. The modules offering consumers a break this week include a $3 drop on DDR2-533 1-GB which is now at $43, and $2 savings on both DDR2-667 512-MB and DDR2-667 1-GB. Consumers may also be interested in the new $116 price on DDR2-1000 1-GB, a $7 price drop for this week. On the rise, unfortunately, is DDR2-667 256-MB, which is up $4 to $64 this week. This week's RDRAM prices have barely moved. The lone price change here is a $4 decrease on PC800 256-MB, now selling for $38 online. The remainder of the RDRAM price chart is unchanged. Overall, it's another week for the status quo books, especially given that a few price fluctuations are the result of individual online vendors adjusting prices, as opposed to an overall industry trend. Those looking to upgrade PC133 CAS3 128-MB will benefit from a $6 savings and a deal or two can also be had if either PC3700 256-MB (down $7 to $29) or PC800 256-MB (down $4 to $38) is on your upgrade list. Unfortunately, we have several modules rising in price as well. Consumers can expect to pay $5 more for PC133 CAS3 512-MB, or an extra $4 for PC3500 512-MB and DDR2-667 256-MB. To help you save even more money when shopping online for system memory, remember to check with local franchise shops to see if they are willing to come close to, or even match, Internet vendor prices, giving you, the consumers the best deal as shipping costs won't need to be factored in.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
