Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of December 17, 2007 - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff December 17, 2007SDRAM prices are quite stable again this week, with only a few small changes spicing the chart up a bit. The price of PC133 CAS3 128MB jumped by $7, while PC133 ECC 512MB dropped by $2. The only other activity of the week hit PC133 ECC 256MB, as it rose by $1. Otherwise, it was business as usual in the PC133 market for another week. The DDR market was a bit of a surprise this week, as a few module listings showed downward movement. The biggest news was a $10 cut to the price of PC3700 512MB, while PC3500 256MB and PC3200 256MB followed this up with drops of $4 and $2, respectively. PC2100 512MB also fell by $2, while PC2100 256MB and PC2700 512MB received $1 drops. There were also a pair of price increases, as PC4000 1GB spiked by $6 and PC3500 512MB jumped $3. There were significant changes in the DDR2 listings, but many of these are not in evidence, as we expanded our search criteria for DDR2-800 and DDR2-1000 modules and have started over with "n/a" changes. Prices dropped across the board though, such as $7 shaved off DDR2-667 1GB, and we have added in new DDR2-1066 512MB and 1GB listings this week. This week in RDRAM prices held very few surprises, and only a single module even showed any change - and that was PC1066 512MB 184pin, which increased by only a single dollar. Although this was another relatively stable week for overall memory prices, we do have some noticeable activity in certain areas. DDR and DDR2 are the most obvious, and the consistent price reductions in the DDR2 market are nothing short of amazing. In addition to our guide, holiday shoppers might want to work with local franchise shops to see if they are willing to come close to, or even match, Internet vendor prices. This not only lowers overall costs, but also gets those little silicon chips in your hands immediately.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
