As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
Thankfully, the single-module DDR2 results were something of an anomaly, and the news gets a lot better in the dual channel DDR2 chart. Here we find eight price drops that reached double digits, and these offered some deeper cuts like $33 off OCZ DDR2-800 Platinum 2x2-GB and $24 shaved off the price of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 DHX 2x2-GB. There was also only a single price cut of a similar level, and even that just barely qualified, as the price of Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 2x1-GB jumped by only $10. This resulted in a very positive trend for buyers, as the dual-channel DDR2 chart dropped by an aggregate total of $147. This is a bit off the usual $300+ total decrease, but at this point, we'll take it.
