The dual-channel memory format is the standard for high-end performance systems, and is the de facto packaging for most DDR memory. The "matched pair" format has become very popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are currently the 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB kits (although 2x2-GB are emerging) and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
The overall activity in the dual-channel DDR chart was not that significant, and only a single listing fell by double digits. Of course, this was a rather significant price cut, as Patriot PC3200LL 2x1-GB dropped by $95, shedding over half of its original price. But that was as far as the lower prices went, and the next-largest decrease was only a $7 cut to WINTEC AMPO PC3200 2x1-GB. Adding $15 to the price of pqi TURBO PC3200 2x1-GB represented the biggest price increase on the chart, but the activity dropped off considerably after that. The overall chart trends showed an impressive total drop of $121, but considering that the majority of that came from a single listing, it wasn't exactly a great week overall.
