As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
Activity in the matched pair DDR2 chart has really slowed down, and while there is usually a selection of price increases and decreases, the number and depth of these continues to drop. We did have a few notable price drops, including $36 off Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 4x1-GB, and two other cuts that hit double digits: PNY XLR8 DDR2-1173 2x1GB (-$17) and Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066 2x1-GB (-$12). There is really nothing on the price increase side of the equation, with a $7 jump to Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667 2x1-GB being the largest. This brings us to the total chart movement, which showed an aggregate drop of $77 this week, and is on par with the $86 decrease we posted in our previous guide.
