As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
We've been going through a bit of a lull in the matched pair DDR2 chart, with overall prices remaining consistent, or even increasing. We get a blast from the past this week, as there are four price drops in the double-digit range, including the G.SKILL DDR2-1000 2x2GB (-$65) and Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 4x1GB (-$40) dual-channel kits. The big news is the almost total lack of price increases, as a pair of $6 jumps are the largest the chart can muster. Naturally, we're looking at a very nice overall matched pair DDR2 chart decrease, which totaled out as an aggregate drop of $143.
