As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
After taking a week off for some price increases, the dual-channel DDR market got back on track in our previous guide, posting a triple-digit chart decrease. We have more good news this week, with six of the listings showing double-digit price drops, including $60 off the PNY XLR8 DDR2-1066 2x1GB and $43 shaved from a Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 4x1GB kit. Unfortunately, there was some movement at the other end of the chart, with four double-digit price spikes, like $24 added to the Crucial Ballistix TR DDR2-1066 2x1GB and an extra $17 on both the OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 2x2GB and DDR2-1150 2x1GB kits. This still led to a positive outcome for buyers, but with an aggregate chart drop of only $95.
