As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including 2x512-MB, 2x1-GB and 2x2GB configurations, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
There was more activity in the dual-channel DDR2 chart this week, and we start off with five listings that fell by double digits. These included the OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 2x2GB (-$20), Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 2x2GB (-$15) and Geil Evo One DDR2-1066 2x2GB (-$15) matched pair kits. There was also a nice selection of smaller price cuts, and these reached over half the chart listings. There were also two price increases, with a $5 jump to Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 DHX 2x1GB being the largest. This resulted in another good week for DDR2 buyers, with the chart falling by an aggregate total of $122.
