As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including 2x512-MB, 2x1-GB and 2x2GB configurations, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
It was a bit better in the dual-channel DDR2 chart this week, but not by much. There were a trio of price drops that hit double digits, including the OCZ Reaper DDR2-1000 2x2GB (-$22), G.SKILL DDR2-1000 2x2GB (-$10) and G.SKILL DDR2-1200 2x2GB (-$10) matched pairs. That sound like good news, but it falls off quickly from there, and we have a pair of unwelcome price increases in the same range. Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066 2x1GB jumped by $10, while the Kingston HyperX DDR2-1200 2x1GB spiked by $26, which cancelled out much of the price drops and helped the chart to an aggregate decrease of only $10.
