As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including 2x512MB, 2x1GB, 2x2GB, and even 2x4GB configurations, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
As usual, the price cuts were more numerous in the dual-channel DDR2 chart this week, and we counted a total of eight drops of $12 or higher. Three of these were greater than $20, as the G.SKILL DDR2-1100 2x2GB (-$25), OCZ FlexXLC DDR2-1200 2x1GB (-$24) and Mushkin Ascent DDR2-1066 2x2GB (-$23) kits provided for some very nice deals. Two price increases hit similar levels, as the Kingston HyperX DDR2-1200 2x1GB and pqi TURBO DDR2-800 2x1GB kits spiked by $11 and $12, respectively, but matched pair DDR2 still posted an aggregate chart drop of $121.
