As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including 2x512MB, 2x1GB, 2x2GB, and even 2x4GB configurations, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
Our previous guide showed a slight chart drop in the dual channel DDR2 listings, but we continue to a real slowdown in the overall price cuts. It was in evidence again this week, as the largest price drop was only $7 off both the Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 DHX 2x1GB and Geil Evo One DDR2-1066 2x2GB matched pairs. It was exactly the same at the other end of the chart, as both the OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 2x2GB and Kingston HyperX DDR2-1150 2x1GB kits jumped by $7. The two sides nearly canceled each other out, with the overall chart dropping by an aggregate total of only $3.
