As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including 2x512MB, 2x1GB, 2x2GB, and even 2x4GB configurations, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ Reaper & FlexXLC.
The price drops on dual channel DDR2 memory continue to slow down, although there were a few notable price cuts. Three of these hit double digits, with the Kingston HyperX DDR2-1200 2x1GB (-$14) matched pair kit posting the largest drop. A $9 increase to the Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 2x1GB kit was the largest price jump, but there was a nice selection of smaller drops, and these really added up. The overall chart movement mirrored these numbers, and although the consumer still came out ahead, the aggregate chart drop totaled only $31.
