Weekly Memory Prices - Week of Nov 25, 2001 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 27, 2001
After three weeks of unchanging or increasing SDRAM prices, its so very nice to see a few minus signs in this week's chart! For the most part, the price decreases we see are quite small; but a couple bigger ones such as the $11 price drop on PC150 512mb really send prices back to the consumer's court. PC133 ECC 64mb dropped another $5 to $10.00, this week, and several of the memory we listed fell $1 to $2 as well. Thank goodness those rising SDRAM prices have seem to halted for the time being. The prices on DIMMs remain stagnant, this week, with the exception of the PC2100 512mb DIMMS, which rose $19. Add that $19 to last week's $25.00 price jump and we're looking at a pretty big price increase. Three weeks ago, PC2100 512 mb sold for $54.00; this week it's up to $98.00! RDRAM has pretty much stayed on track, giving us both price increases and decreases. PC 800 ECC 512mb saw the biggest price increase as it went up $5 to $286.00; and on the other end of the scale, the price on PC800 256mb fell $6 to $80.00 this week. As usual, RDRAM is the mixed bag of price fluctuations we usually find it to be. Overall, the news for those looking to upgrade memory is a bit more positive this week than last. We're seeing only a few slight price decreases, but that's better than almost all increases. Pentium 4 owners are still paying high prices for their RDRAM; but again, the overall prices of the PC 800 are dropping by a few dollars if you're looking for an upgrade.
