Weekly Memory Prices - Week of Dec 2, 2001 - Page 2By Vangie Beal December 5, 2001
There isn't a whole lot of movement in SDRAM prices this week. We have a few that either drop or increase by a couple dollars, but nothing that will make you jump for joy nor wish like crazy you had of bought last week. PC100 CAS2 64mb and PC100 CAS2 ECC 64mb DIMMS both went down $2 this week; and the biggest price decrease was on the PC100 CAS3 256mb, which fell another $5, this week, bringing the price down to $23.00. But while those prices dropped, PC100 CAS2 256mb and PC133 CAS2 128mb DIMMS both went up in price by $1 and PC100 CAS2 ECC 256mb went up $7 to $35.00. There were a couple slight price increases, as it would appear that Crucial followed other vendors' lead and upped their prices a bit this week. The big jump was on PC2100 256mb, which comes in $14 more this week for a new price of $54.00. After taking a big price jump last week (up $19), we see PC2100 512mb only dropped in price by $1, leaving it at $97.00 RDRAM has pretty much stayed on track with only one price change for this week: PC800 ECC 256mb RIMMS, which fell $1 to $89.00. Other than that, there were no price fluctuations this week. The news for those looking to upgrade memory is a bit more positive this week as compared to last. Right now, we are seeing only a few slight price decreases, and very few price increases. Overall, Pentium 4 owners are still paying high prices for their RDRAM; but again, the overall prices of the PC 800 RIMMS are dropping by a few dollars if you're looking for an upgrade.
