Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of Jan 27, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal January 30, 2002
After the last couple weeks of crazy SDRAM prices, it's rather refreshing to actually see stable prices. For the most part, SDRAM prices stayed the same this with. Exceptions include PC100 CAS3 256mb, which went down $13 to $48.00, and PC133 CAS3 256mb, which fell another $5 to $48.00 this week. We also see a couple of $1 price changes. But other than those, the prices remain the same as last week... which, considering recent price increases, isn't necessarily a bad thing. Showing even less movement than in SDRAM prices, we didn't chart a single price change in this category for the second week in a row. PC800 brings about only two price changes this week. PC800 64mb went down by $3 to $14.00 and PC800 128mb fell $1 to $33.00. Again, prices are staying close to last week's. So if you missed out on buying then, you won't feel too big much of a bigger hole in the wallet. This is probably one of the most uneventful memory price guides we have posted in quite a while. In light of recent price increases, however, seeing the memory prices remain constant is a rather pleasant surprise. Do yourselves a favor and check prices again before deciding whether or not to buy, as prices have been changing (usually increasing) so quickly that most of this guide is unlikely to remain accurate for a day, let alone a week. We can all hope for some better prices on memory for consumers next week... but unfortunately, I wouldn't count on it!
