Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of Mar 17, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal March 20, 2002
This week, we have a few more price fluctuations on SDRAM. PC100 prices remain pretty constant except on PC100 CAS3 128mb and PC100 CAS3 256mb, as both fell by $4.00 in price this week. PC133 CAS3 128mb also fell $4 to $29.00 this week, while PC133 ECC 256mb went up $12 to $63.00.
DDR SDRAM seems to be one memory type which doesn't change too often, and this week is no exception. The only real price change we see here is on PC2400 128mb which fell $11 to $55.00. While the prices listed from Crucial.com may seem, at first glance, to be more expensive than some you'll find on the price circuit, Crucial actually ends up being cheaper when you take shipping prices into account (a difference of $10+), which is why the seemingly "higher" prices have been listed in our guide. In RDRAM prices, this week, we see either slight price drops or no price changes at all, which is certainly much better than increases. PC800 128mb, PC800 512mb, and PC800 ECC 128mb all fell $1 to $2 in price this week. As expected, overall our memory prices for this week remain, for the most part, unchanged. Since memory prices can go up and down, daily, depending on market conditions and availability, we suggest you use our guide only to provide you with an idea on where prices are heading. Many vendors also state that their price is specifically for a phone order, you should be reminded, while others offer the lowest prices on online orders. Do yourselves a favor and check prices again before deciding whether or not to buy, as prices have been changing (usually increasing) so quickly that most of this guide is unlikely to remain accurate for a day, let alone a week.
