Memory Pricing Guide |
High-End Memory Prices - Week of September 3, 2007By SharkyExtreme.com Staff September 5, 2007The following chart outlines prices on name-brand, single module DDR prices. We've taken a cross-section of the top name brands (as voted by Sharky readers), and when possible, used the highest-end module possible. In the case of Corsair, this translates into "LL" or Low Latency, while Kingston HyperX, Mushkin "Level 2" (L2), and OCZ Enhanced Latency "EL" modules are also featured. Not all DDR clock speeds are available at these enhanced memory formats, and some of our PC4000 and up listings naturally use more standard timings and brand names. Tracked DDR is in the PC2700 to PC5000 range, but each vendor may have a different "high-end" speed, and might not offer all of the clock speed permutations. The single-module DDR listings are remarkably stable again this week, with the largest price drop checking in at only $3, and there were only five decreases in total. There was only a single noticeable price spike, as Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 512-MB jumped by $16, and this was also the only price increase in the chart. The most popular option this week was to have a "0" in the Price Change column, and the single-module DDR chart mirrored this by showing an aggregate increase of $7. This is as stable as we have seen the list in some time, and even last week's very consistent results posted a $21 chart drop.
