Memory Pricing Guide |
High-End Memory Prices - Week of November 26, 2007By SharkyExtreme.com Staff November 26, 2007The following chart outlines prices on name-brand, single module DDR prices. We've taken a cross-section of the top name brands (as voted by Sharky readers), and when possible, used the highest-end module possible. In the case of Corsair, this translates into "LL" or Low Latency, while Kingston HyperX, Mushkin "Level 2" (L2), and OCZ Enhanced Latency "EL" modules are also featured. Not all DDR clock speeds are available at these enhanced memory formats, and some of our PC4000 and up listings naturally use more standard timings and brand names. Tracked DDR is in the PC2700 to PC5000 range, but each vendor may have a different "high-end" speed, and might not offer all of the clock speed permutations. The single-module DDR chart shows virtually no movement in either direction, and overall prices have been remarkably stable over the past few weeks. There were only three price drops, with the two largest being a $4 cut to Crucial PC3200 1-GB and $3 off Kingston HyperX PC3200 1-GB. There were more individual price increases, with five in total, but these also didn't exactly shoot off the chart. An $8 price jump to OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum 1-GB and a $6 spike to OCZ PC3200 Special OPS 1-GB were the most this area could muster, and the single-module DDR listings showed an aggregate chart increase of $15.
