Memory Pricing Guide |
High-End Memory Prices - Week of June 9, 2008By SharkyExtreme.com Staff June 10, 2008The following chart outlines prices on name-brand, single module DDR prices. We've taken a cross-section of the top name brands (as voted by Sharky readers), and when possible, used the highest-end module possible. In the case of Corsair, this translates into "LL" or Low Latency, while Kingston HyperX, Mushkin "Level 2" (L2), and OCZ Enhanced Latency "EL" modules are also featured. Not all DDR clock speeds are available at these enhanced memory formats, and some of our PC4000 and up listings naturally use more standard timings and brand names. Tracked DDR is in the PC2700 to PC5000 range, but each vendor may have a different "high-end" speed, and might not offer all of the clock speed permutations. The single-module DDR chart showed virtually no movement, and that included both price increases and decreases. The largest price drop was a $3 cut to Kingston HyperX PC3200 512-MB, followed by a trio of $2 decreases. All told, there were only five price drops of any kind. Thankfully, the price increases had an even lower profile, with only two showing up - a $2 jump to Patriot PC3200 1-GB and a $1 blip that hit OCZ PC3200 Performance 1-GB. Naturally, the overall trends showed a very stable week for single-module DDR, with a total chart drop of only $7.
