September Video Card Price Guide - Page 4By SharkyExtreme.com Staff September 29, 2004Our definition of mainstream video cards encompasses the $100-$199 price range, and is really where you'll get the most bang for your buck. This is where you will find the latest mainstream video cards, like the Radeon 9600XT and GeForce 6800, along with a few higher-end products that have been replaced at the top of the food chain, and have then dropped in price. The mainstream video card list was very active this month, and like August, it gives us not only a lot of double-digit cuts, but even a couple in the $20 and up range. The ATI X600 XT 128MB PCI Express board dropped by a healthy $28, while the matching PCIe NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5750 256MB card fell by $20. There were no new entrants to the mainstream list this month, and at the higher-end, we found offsetting price increases and decreases. This translates into a very stable month for the popular NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra and 5900XT boards, as well as the Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and the AiW Radeon 9700 Pro. The top mainstream buys are once again the Radeon 9800 Pro from ATI and the impressive GeForce FX 5900XT from NVIDIA, while multimedia fans will definitely want to check out the AiW Radeon 9700 Pro.
