November Video Card Price Guide - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff November 3, 2004The NVIDIA-based video card market is a bit more splintered than the ATI one, and we still have the GeForce FX and GeForce4 cards available at street level, and really competing at the entry-level and mainstream sectors. Naturally, the GeForce FX and GeForce Series 6 lines receive a greater number of listings, and especially as we move to the very popular GeForce FX 5700/5900/5950 Ultra and GeForce 6800 levels. NVIDIA gets the same overall coverage as the ATI list, starting at the GeForce4 MX440-8X and ending with the GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB cards. But just like ATI, there are some NVIDIA cards that are becoming increasingly hard to locate, and we've adjusted our list accordingly. There was not as much activity in the NVIDIA price chart, significant price changes hit the GeForce 6800GT 256MB, with some models receiving double-digit price cuts, while others rose by a similar amount. It was much the same trend with the other GeForce 6800-based cards, as supply and demand took a definite toll. Some of the higher-end GeForce 6800GT and 6800 Ultra cards are in short supply, and this means potential buyers have to move up the list from the "back-ordered" vendors. There were not a lot of price changes in the NVIDIA mainstream and entry-level range, although some GeForce PCX 5900 128MB cards have dropped below $200. The GeForce 6800-based line seems to be a rousing success, with many waiting on pins and needles for the release of the GeForce 6600 and 6600GT AGP versions. * Please note that many of the GeForce 6800-based video cards are still in short supply, with some models on back-order, or even on pre-order and waiting for the individual vendor release.
