November Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff November 3, 2004If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end video card market is once again where most radical price increases and decreases take place, and the gap between the highest and lowest priced video cards only seems to grow. Now that the Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB is back in the high-end range, it rules as a low-cost option, while there are some definite deals to be had with the All-in-Wonder versions. Moving up to the middle of the chart, the price activity really slows down, but the Radeon X800 Pro and GeForce 6800/6800GT work hard for your enthusiast dollar. There are few deals at the upper echelon, and while many of the ATI Radeon X800 XT cards continue to drop, there have been price spikes hitting some of the GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB models. Many of these ultra high-end cards are still are still very difficult to allocate in significant numbers, so many of these price changes are reflective of vendor supplies, rather than any real shift in overall market prices.
