December Video Card Price Guide - Page 4By SharkyExtreme.com Staff December 3, 2004Our definition of mainstream video cards encompasses the $100-$199 price range, and is really where you'll get the most bang for your buck. This is where you will find the latest mainstream video cards, like the Radeon 9600XT and GeForce 6800, along with a few higher-end products that have been replaced at the top of the food chain, and have then dropped in price. The mainstream video card list is usually the place where price changes really run wild, especially considering the $100-$199 price range. Last month we had a couple of $20+ price drops, but this time the best we can do is a $17 cut to the NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB PCIe. In fact, the majority of price cuts hit on PCI Express models, making it a valued-filled area again in December. This is obvious when comparing GeForce 6600 GT-based cards, where the PCI Express models sneak into the mainstream chart, while their AGP counterparts are forced into the high-end section. Other than that, the mainstream video card market is relatively stable, especially at the top-end of the chart.
