December Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff December 3, 2004If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. December seems to be feast or famine in the high-end video card market, and there are many significant price cuts, but not far behind we see a few double-digit price increases as well. The ultra high-end of the chart is where the largest cuts are found, with the PNY GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB and BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB registering drops of $147 and $138 respectively. The Sapphire Radeon X800 XT Platinum 256MB (-$67), eVGA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB (-$51), and MSI GeForce 6800GT 256MB (-$49) are not far behind, and it appears that the GeForce 6800-based cards continue to equalize towards common ground. We also charted some higher prices as well, but these centered mostly on a few Radeon 9800XT, Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB and Radeon X800 XT models.
