January Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff January 5, 2005If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. January was another wild month in the high-end video card market, and we charted quite a few significant price shifts. The ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum 256MB posted the largest price cut, followed closely by a few GeForce 6800 and 6800 GT 256MB cards. As we stated in the ATI section, the Radeon X800 Pro cards are jumping in price, and the new Radeon X800SE models are entering in force. The GeForce 6600 GT 128MB AGP cards still seem a bit out of place on this chart, and we're crossing our fingers that these continue to drop and enter the mainstream sector in very short order.
