January Video Card Price Guide - Page 6By SharkyExtreme.com Staff January 5, 2005
The following chart takes all of the tracked ATI and NVIDIA cards, and incorporates it into one monster price list, that is then sorted by the monthly price change. This gives us a slightly different view than in previous ATI and NVIDIA lists, as it identifies the month's biggest movers and shakers, and can really help identify the areas to take advantage of. When used with the other price charts, this list can add another dimension to the monthly video card prices, but keep in mind that the largest cuts may not translate into the best overall deal. The overall price change list confirms our findings in the individual charts and commentary, and we see a few of the highlighted cards featured prominently in the "movers and shakers" area. Last month it was the GeForce 6800 GT and Ultra cards showing the highest price cuts, but this time it's more of an even mix. The Radeon X800 XT Platinum 256MB and GeForce 6800/6800 GT 256MB boards led the pack, followed by the GeForce 6600 GT 128MB AGP and Radeon 9800SE 128MB cards. The only real trend we see continuing is the shrinking price gap between competing AGP and PCIe models, and as both AMD and Intel PCIe platforms pick up steam through 2005, prices will continue to equalize.
