February 2005 Video Card Price Guide - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff February 3, 2005The NVIDIA-based video card market is a bit more splintered than the ATI one, and we still have the GeForce FX and GeForce4 cards available at street level, and really competing at the entry-level and mainstream sectors. Naturally, the GeForce FX and GeForce Series 6 lines receive a greater number of listings, and especially as we move to the very popular GeForce FX 5700/5900/5950 Ultra and GeForce 6600 and 6800 levels. NVIDIA gets the same overall coverage as the ATI list, starting at the GeForce4 MX440-8X and ending with the GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB cards. But just like ATI, there are some NVIDIA cards that are becoming increasingly hard to locate, and we continue to adjust our list accordingly. For the second month in a row, the NVIDIA listings surpassed those of ATI in terms of both overall price movement and individual cuts. The leader of the pack this month is the PNY GeForce 6800GT 256MB, which fell a whopping $52, while the NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT 256MB (PCIe) is not far behind with a $25 cut. There were also a few double-digit price drops at the GeForce 6800 Ultra level, with both AGP and PCI Express models showing lower prices. Unfortunately, the larger cuts to the new GeForce 6X00 lines are accompanied by price increases with a few older models. The NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5750 128MB (PCIe) jumped by $20 this month, and the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 128MB increased by $10. But it is not all bad news concerning last-generation NVIDIA cards, as some GeForce PCX 5900 and 5300 cards (PCIe) cards dropped, as did several GeForce FX 5500 and 5700LE boards.
