February 2005 Video Card Price Guide - Page 4By SharkyExtreme.com Staff February 3, 2005Our definition of mainstream video cards encompasses the $100-$199 price range, and is really where you'll get the most bang for your buck. This is where you will find the latest mainstream video cards, like the Radeon X700 Pro and GeForce 6600 and 6600GT, along with a few higher-end products that have been replaced at the top of the food chain, and have then dropped in price. The mainstream video card list is usually where we see noticeable price drops mixed in with a few high-end cards dropping below the $200 mark and entering the mainstream market. This month does not disappoint, as we find cards like the ATI AiW Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB (-$36), XFX GeForce 6600 256MB PCIe (-$15) and NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB AGP (-$15) dropping nicely. Some cards have also fallen from high-end list into the mainstream, with the most important being the GeForce 6600 GT (PCIe and AGP) cards and the Radeon X700 Pro 256MB (PCIe). Both of these models are the current generation mainstream products from ATI and NVIDIA, and it's nice to finally see matching retail prices.
