March 2005 Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff March 4, 2005If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end section of the video card market could adequately be described as the "wild west", with a flurry of price shoot-outs greeting us each month. March is another wild show, with significant price cuts up and down the list. The PCI Express NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB models led the parade, sporting $139-$140 cuts, while there were tons of price cuts hitting the Radeon X800 and GeForce 6800-based lines. There were also price decreases at virtually every budget, from the $289 Leadtek GeForce 6800 256MB PCIe (-$44) to the $521 eVGA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB (-$139). This is definitely another great month for enthusiast buyers looking to get a bit more bang for their gaming buck.
