Our definition of mainstream video cards encompasses the $100-$199 price range, and is really where you'll get the most bang for your buck. This is where you will find the latest mainstream video cards, like the Radeon X700 Pro and GeForce 6600 and 6600GT, along with a few higher-end products that have been replaced at the top of the food chain, and have then dropped in price.
The mainstream video card list is usually where we see a few noticeable price drops mixed in with a couple of high-end cards falling below the $200 mark and entering the mainstream market. Unfortunately, we only have part of the puzzle this month, as not a single high-end card dropped into the mainstream chart. There were some interesting price cuts, including $35 drops to both the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB, and a whopping $51 cut to the price of the ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB. There was some movement on the current-generation ATI X700 and NVIDIA 6600-based cards, but the big action revolved around older parts.
