April Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff April 1, 2005If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end section of the video card market adheres to the "wild west" philosophy, and is usually the home to a few price shoot-outs between high-end ATI and NVIDIA cards. If deep price cuts are what you're after, then you came to the right place partner. Even outside the strange $262 cut to the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme 256MB (PCIe), we also had the ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256MB (PCIe) dropping $95, the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB falling by $87, and the ATI Radeon X800 XL 256MB (PCIe) shedding $68 off its price tag. This is another great month for enthusiast buyers, especially those looking at the Radeon X800XL & GeForce 6800 or higher range.
