May Video Card Price Guide - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff May 9, 2005The NVIDIA-based video card market is a bit more splintered than the ATI one, and we still have the GeForce FX and GeForce4 cards available at street level, and really competing at the entry-level and mainstream sectors. Naturally, the GeForce FX and GeForce Series 6 lines receive a greater number of listings, and especially as we move to the very popular GeForce FX 5700/5900/5950 Ultra and GeForce 6600 and 6800 levels. NVIDIA gets the same overall coverage as the ATI list, starting at the GeForce4 MX440-8X and ending with the GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB and 512-MB cards. But just like ATI, there are some NVIDIA cards that are becoming increasingly hard to locate, and we continue to adjust our list accordingly. After holding the overall price drop title for a few months in a row, our NVIDIA list was unable to keep up with the heavy ATI cuts, and managed just over 40% of the aggregate ATI-based total. Even so, there were some nice individual price decreases, and these zoned in on the GeForce 6800 Ultra, 6800GT and 6800LE cards. Many GeForce 6600GT boards also dropped nicely this month, including both AGP and PCIe models. In terms of overall pricing activity, the NVIDIA AGP cards are much more active and received more significant cuts than PCIe. There were also price spikes on some PCIe cards, including last-gen GeForce PCX 5750 and 5900 cards, as well as higher-end GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme and 6800GT PCIe models.
