May Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff May 9, 2005If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end section of the video card market adheres to the "wild west" philosophy, and is usually the home to a few shoot-outs between high-priced ATI and NVIDIA cards. May is certainly no exception and the price cuts run rampant from top to bottom. In terms of the more interesting cuts, the GeForce 6800LE 128MB AGP cards dropped quite noticeably, and look poised to join the Radeon X800 128MB PCIe boards in the mainstream chart next month. The ATI Radeon X800 XT and X850-based models were very active this past month, as were many GeForce 6800 Ultra and 6800GT cards, creating many potential deals for high-end buyers.
