June Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff June 10, 2005If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X800 XT Platinum and GeForce 6800 Ultra-based cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end section of the video card market is more of a "wild west" type of environment, where the pricing shoot-outs are always popping up between ATI and NVIDIA cards. The standard GeForce 6800 128MB boards dropped again this month, and it looks to be only a matter of time before these join the GeForce 6800LE models in the mainstream chart. Moving down the list, we see a lot of activity in the Radeon X800 XT and GeForce 6800GT range, and some significant price cuts on Radeon X800 XT Platinum 256MB and GeForce 6800 Ultra OC 512MB cards. In terms of overall price decreases, the ATI Radeon X800 and X850-based cards really take the cake, and there are great deals at virtually all levels of the line.
