August Video Card Price Guide - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff August 9, 2005The NVIDIA-based video card market is a bit more splintered than the ATI one, and we still have the GeForce FX and GeForce4 cards available at street level, and really competing at the entry-level and mainstream sectors. Naturally, the GeForce FX and GeForce 6 Series lines receive a greater number of listings, and especially as we move to the popular GeForce FX/PCX and GeForce 6600 and 6800 levels. NVIDIA gets the same overall coverage as the ATI list, starting at the GeForce4 MX4000-8X and ending with the GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB and GeForce 6800 Ultra 512-MB cards. But just like ATI, there are some NVIDIA cards that are becoming increasingly hard to locate, and we continue to adjust our list accordingly. ATI may have had a great week, but NVIDIA buyers have even more reason to cheer. The total chart price drop amounted to an incredible $670, and there were some extremely deep cuts at the high-end of the scale. Three of the new NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB dropped by $115, $77, and $54 respectively, which accounted for a nice chunk of the overall NVIDIA price activity. The GeForce 6 Series was not totally quiet, and the PNY GeForce 6800GT 256MB fell $75 while the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 256MB PCIe (-$40) and NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT 256MB PCIe (-$34) also dropped nicely. And as with the ATI side, there were only a few double-digit price increases, with the two largest ones strangely affecting GeForce 6800 Ultra cards.
