August Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff August 9, 2005We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins. Each month we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but for the second month in a row, three cards fell below the $100 mark. These were also the result of rather significant price cuts (for the class), as both the NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5900 128MB PCIe and ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB dropped by more than $20, and ATI Radeon 9800SE 128MB chimed in with a $11 decrease. This also paints a very interesting picture of the current entry-level market, where the GeForce PCX 5900 128MB shoots to the top of the PCI Express performance chart, followed by the ATI Radeon 9800SE 128MB for AGP systems. The value cards remain unchanged, and the NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5750 128MB PCIe and Radeon 9600SE 128MB AGP are both great deals.
