September Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff September 9, 2005We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins. Each month we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, and after a literal deluge of mainstream cards falling below the $100 mark over the past few months, things go back to normal for September. The NVIDIA GeForce 6600 128MB PCIe is our only new member of the entry-level club, having dropped down to $99. The ATI X300-based cards seem to be falling in price, especially now that the new Radeon X550 boards are coming on strong in the value market. Otherwise, it was a pretty sedate month for entry-level video cards. Unfortunately, the GeForce PCX 5900 128MB shot off the chart this month, and leaves us with the ATI X600 Pro 128MB and GeForce 6600 128MB as the top PCI Express options, while Radeon 9600XT 128MB remains the top AGP spot.
