October Video Card Price Guide - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff October 6, 2005The NVIDIA-based video card market is a bit more splintered than the ATI one, and we still have the GeForce FX and GeForce4 cards available at street level, and really competing at the entry-level and mainstream sectors. Naturally, the GeForce 6 & 7 Series lines receive a greater number of listings, and especially as we move to the popular GeForce 6600/6800 and GeForce 7800 GT/GTX levels. NVIDIA gets the same overall coverage as the ATI list, starting at the GeForce4 MX4000-8X and ending with the GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB and GeForce 6800 Ultra 512-MB cards. But just like ATI, there are some NVIDIA cards that are becoming increasingly hard to locate, and we continue to adjust our list accordingly. The NVIDIA list also shows a mix of price increases and decreases, but these are definitely weighted in the wrong direction. On the positive side, there were four price cuts that reached double-digits, including the XFX GeForce 7800 GT 256MB (-$35), NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT 256MB (-$28), and Leadtek GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB (-$25) cards. Unfortunately, the lower prices of NVIDIA's newest GeForce 7 Series were accompanied by some price spikes to the old guard. GeForce 6800-based AGP models were definitely on the move, as the NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT 256MB jumped $90 and the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB rose by $65. Prices were not as volatile in the GeForce 6800 PCI Express models, but this wild AGP action resulted in an unprecedented aggregate chart shift of +$176.
