November 2005 Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff November 4, 2005If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon X800 and GeForce 6800 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X1800 256MB and GeForce 7800 GT and GTX 256MB cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end section of the video card market is more of a "wild west" type of environment, where the pricing shoot-outs are always taking place between ATI and NVIDIA video cards. This month there is definitely some activity on both sides, but ATI is certainly taking the lead over NVIDIA. For the AGP buyer, you're limited to last-generation cards, where the Radeon X800 and X850-based cards offer the best mix of price, performance and retail availability. For PCI Express buyers, it's a real shoot-out between the Radeon X1800 and GeForce 7800 GTX at the ultra high-end, but we still like the GeForce 7800 GT for overall high-end value.
