December 2005 Video Card Price Guide - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff December 16, 2005The NVIDIA-based video card market is a bit more splintered than the ATI one, and we still have the GeForce FX and GeForce PCX cards available at street level, and really competing at the entry-level and mainstream sectors. Naturally, the GeForce 6 & 7 Series lines receive a greater number of listings, and especially as we move to the popular GeForce 6600/6800 and GeForce 7800 GT/GTX levels. NVIDIA gets the same overall coverage as the ATI list, starting at the GeForce4 MX4000-8X and ending with the GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB and GeForce 6800 Ultra 512-MB cards. But just like ATI, there are some NVIDIA cards that are becoming increasingly hard to locate, and we continue to adjust our list accordingly. The ATI chart may have been smoking over the last month, but the NVIDIA list actually outpaced it in terms of the aggregate price change, posting a total chart decrease of just over $700. One drop of $205, to the BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC 512MB PCI Express, accounted for a healthy percentage of that total, but there were also eighteen double-digit cuts on the NVIDIA side this month. A lot of these hit various GeForce 7800 GT and GTX boards, with many in the $40-$50 range. In terms of NVIDIA deals, it was a nice mix of the new and old, as both 6800 and 7800-based cards showed a wide range of lower prices. There was also only a single noticeable price increase, and again this was for an AGP model, this time the GeForce 6600GT 256MB. PCI Express is definitely the current graphics interface, and those looking to upgrade AGP platforms might want to act quickly.
