Parallel and Serial ATA Hard Drives: Full List

The following chart takes all of the tracked Parallel and Serial ATA hard drives and then incorporates them all into a monster chart, which is then sorted by retail price. It's a very extensive list, which gives you all the important price data, and can be a valuable shopping tool for those on limited budgets. This also gives us another way to view the data, and determine how each drive stacks up in terms of price, and then ensuring you make the best use of your gaming system dollar. As with the previous chart, we have replaced the $/GB figure with a SATA/PATA column to ensure there is no confusion about the interface of any drive models.

The overall chart not only gives us an all-in-one hard drive price list, but also helps to illustrate where the best deals for each buying segment may exist. For the entry-level buyer, the SATA crowd should be looking at the two Maxtor 200GB drives, which offer high-end performance and are the top-ranked values in the sub-$90 hard drive market. The Maxtor 250GB and Western Digital 250GB are also great deals for the $100 and under SATA buyer, while on the PATA side, the Western Digital SE 200GB and 250GB models, as well as the Seagate 250GB drive, represent the best mainstream deals money can buy. The higher-end performance/capacity PATA and SATA buyers will get the best bang for the buck out of the "top ranked value" Western Digital SE 320GB drives. The Seagate 300GB offers comparable value for the high-end PATA systems, while the Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB does the same for the PATA segment.
