March Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff March 24, 2006We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins. Each month we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but in March there were actually three new cards dropping below the $100 mark. These new debuts include the NVIDIA GeForce 6600 128MB AGP, ATI X1300 Pro 256MB PCIe, and ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB, which are all now priced between $85 and $95. There were also a few double-digit price cuts, and the entry-level graphics chart was a bit more active than usual. AGP buyers will still be best served with the Radeon 9600XT 128MB and 256MB cards on the ATI side, as these offer an excellent combination of price and performance. The GeForce 6600 128MB AGP is now the top performance option, and is an exceptional value at only $95. The GeForce 6600 128MB and 256MB PCIe cards were already part of the list, and are the obvious choices for the PCI Express market.
