March Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff March 24, 2006If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon X800 and GeForce 6800 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X1800 256MB and GeForce 7800 GT and GTX 256MB cards, some of which can push $600. The high-end section of the video card market is usually more of a "wild west" type of environment, where the pricing shoot-outs are always taking place between ATI and NVIDIA video cards, and new hotrod cards are always joining the party. This is especially true this month, as we have a host of price cuts to consider, as well as a pile of new GeForce 7 Series cards making their first appearance. There was some pretty wild pricing activity on the ATI side, as many X1800 and X1900-based cards received much-needed price cuts. The GeForce 7600 and 7900-based video cards also made an immediate impact, and the GeForce 7900 GT 256MB offers an exceptional price-performance ratio. The GeForce 7800 GT 256MB and Radeon X1800 XL 256MB also great deals, and for AGP buyers, the GeForce 7800 GS 256MB is where you want to be.
